Motorcycle Training Tours

Motorcycle Tours

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have been asked many times about the prospect of running motorcycle tours in small groups. Some folk would like some advanced riding training in the course of it.
This is something we can provide on a bespoke basis when demand exists.

An outline of what could be provided as an example is as follows:

A four day/three night training tour aimed at riders who wish to improve their riding whilst on a short riding tour on some brilliant roads, with guidance and coaching throughout from Police/ex-Police Class 1 Advanced Riders. The option at the end of the tour of being examined by an IAM Roadsmart, RoSPA or DVSA ERS examiner/assessor to achieve one or more of those qualifications. Or forget the training and just come on the guided tour!

Coaching courses could commence with a riding theory session to improve core knowledge, using Roadcraft as the primary reference, depending on experience levels. The riding would then be over three, four or five days of varied terrain and environments in order for a broad range of learning to be achieved. Regular debriefs during and at the end of each day with the focus on rider development and enjoyment. Examination for the qualifications (eg IAM, RoSPA or DVSA ERS) if taken would be on the last or second last day. These tours may appeal to riders who wish to obtain a qualification but don't wish to spread out the training over weeks or months. Objectives can be achieved in a short tour while riders are also enjoying the touring experience.

Alternatively, if training and qualifications are not an objective, then a more straightforward guided tour can be planned, without the classroom input at the start and at a reduced cost.

Using one well placed hotel as a base would aid convenience in not having to carry luggage or pack/unpack each day.
There are numerous hotel and route options which can be used to achieve these objectives.
However, if a group prefer to move on each day then a series of tried and tested hotels around the route would be used.

Rider to instructor ratio would be either 2:1 or 3:1 for coaching and bike to bike comms can be used to assist training.
If the qualifications aren't of interest, just a bit of coaching here and there, then instructor numbers can reduce and therefore the cost. And you can stay connected with your riding pals rather than the instructor, if you prefer?

These tours would most likely begin in Northumberland, Co Durham, Cumbria, Cleveland or North Yorkshire and head north into Scotland as far and wide as your timescale allows. Mick and any additional instructors all have detailed knowledge of roads, routes, hotels, viewpoints, coffee stops etc around all of these areas to help you maximise your riding enjoyment without having to worry about any of that stuff. It's all taken care of for you.

For these tours to work most effectively we would aim for a group size of between two and six riders but larger numbers would be considered.

One such mini tour has just been conducted in September 2023. Four riders (all pals happy to share twin rooms) met with myself in North Yorkshire. Day 1 around North Yorkshire, Redcar & Cleveland and overnight stay. Day 2 N.Yorks into Co.Durham and Northumberland and overnight stay. Day 3 Northumberland then back south to head home.
No qualifications required - just pure riding enjoyment in beautiful sunshine - ordered specially!

Expressions of interest for future tours/mini tours would be most welcome via a text, phone call or email in order for us to make future plans.
If you have a particular tour or specific dates you wish to work to, please contact us to discuss.

Please look at similar tour options with some of the larger, national rider training companies to compare itineraries and prices.
Then come back to us with an enquiry for a similar experience but at a more modest cost.

Thank you for taking the trouble to read this. Feel free to ask for more information or discuss further at your convenience.
