Motorcycle Skills Development Trackdays

 Motorcycle Skills Development Trackdays.

These days are designed for riders to develop riding skills which are transferable to the road, in a safe environment, with a team of highly skilled and experienced instructors made up of serving and retired Police riders, IAM observers/examiners, RoSPA examiners etc.
The emphasis is on cornering skills development rather than outright lap speed. These are "no overtaking" events with speed and conduct managed on track by each instructor. Although speeds will rise modestly session by session as ability and confidence grows, they will never reach the speeds achieved on many commercial trackdays. That is not the point of these days. They are primarily for learning cornering skills which will improve road riding safety and enjoyment but could be used as a stepping stone for those who later wish to try a commercial trackday.

Twenty minute sessions on track, each preceded by a short classroom input.
Three separate groups with a maximum of 20 riders on track at anytime, plus instructors. Usual ratio is four riders per instructor.

In 2019 we ran events at Knockhill and Croft with almost 50 riders participating at both.

Overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic feedback was received about these events, so the format was set to continue at both circuits in 2020. However, the wider events of 2020 meant that both of our 2020 Skillsdays had to be cancelled.

In October 2021 we ran an event at Croft Circuit for 60 riders.

Two events ran in May and September 2022 with both sold out.

The fact that you are reading this means you have navigated your way to this page and must therefore be interested.
Your enjoyment and learning at these events will make you wonder why you ever hesitated!
Please read the reviews by clicking onto the yellow stars.

Because these events are classed as Skills Days rather than full on commercial trackdays with correspondingly lower speeds reached, the circuit accepts standard roadgoing armoured textile motorcycle clothing, preferably with jacket and trousers capable of being zipped together.
There is no requirement for leathers to be worn, however, if you have them and wish to wear them that is absolutely fine too. One piece or if two-piece preferably zipped together.

The event is classed as a "quiet" day by the circuit so standard road exhaust systems capable of passing an MOT are required. Noise testing will be carried out on the day and any bikes not complying with the required sound limit will be excluded to ensure the event continues to run for everyone else's benefit. The static check limit is 95db.

Croft circuit - Monday 19th June 2023 was fully booked.
It is not anticipated a second date will be added in 2023.

We believe the event cost represents excellent value for money and is a modest investment in your motorcycling future for less than the price of a back tyre!

Autumn 2023 update
I always said I would continue running these days as long as the demand was there from the motorcycling fraternity to engage and participate, learning to improve riding skills whilst having fun in a controlled environment on the circuit.
However, it was, frankly, a bit of a struggle to get this year's event over the "break even" line and make the numbers work.
So I've decided to take a break from it in 2024 and have no plans to secure dates from any circuit.
If it turns out I've underestimated the thirst from potential participants, I could be persuaded to look for dates in late summer/early autumn 2024.
Clubs/groups/organisations might like to explore demand with members.
Failing that, other skillsday/trackday companies are available!

Thank you.
